    Kozos new shay

Made a start on the boiler supports. Started with a piece of steel I found in the workshop. Set this up and flashed the top. The majority of parts are from 3 mm brass plate. Had a 200mm x 200mm piece which I stuck down with strong double sided tape. Programmed cnc to mill parts out to a depth...

    Swifty's build of Howell V4

To be honest there isnt that much to it. Especially compared to the howell v4.

    Swifty's build of Howell V4

Paul. I have had the book a while. I'm sure it uses pistons and valves from a honda motorcycle. Also gives you the option to machine them. Robbie

    Kozos new shay

Todd. The bolsters took 10 minutes for 1st op then cut in half and bring thickness in. Another 10 minutes. The end brackets were made together on one piece of stock. Probs 20 minutes machining then bring thickness in another 10 minutes. Plus set up time. The problem I have is no tool changer. So...

    Z axis drive

I'm hoping someone can help me. I have a warco manual mill. Which I'm happy with. But want to fit a powered z axis. For using boring head etc. I was thinking stepper motor with a variable speed control? Something simple. Fwd/rev and speed adjustment in a small box and standard 240v. Hope someone...

    Kozos new shay

Swifty. I do have access to cnc mill so should help with the build. I don't see me having a problem with the machining of parts. The sheet metal work maybe a different story.

    Kozos new shay

After following cruebys amazing build of kozo's new shay, I have decided to make a start on my own. I received the book for xmas. This will be a very slow build as full time job and family commitments get in the way. Here are the first few parts. Truss rod parts require silver solder

    Quarter Scale Merlin V-12

Terry I would mill flanges first. Any miss calculation can be rectified with thicker gasket, and the match drilling will still be perfect. I wouldn't make gaskets till all drilling is complete. Only require a piece of gasket material between mating faces. Maybe a spot of oil to hold in place. Robbie

    Quarter Scale Merlin V-12

Terry Can you not find some uniformly thick gasket material. Get enough to make a few gaskets and a piece to go between mating faces for match drilling. Robbie

Words can't describe what a great project that is. Will you be selling plans in the future for people to drool over?
