    Tangential tool flycutter

Flycutters work great, however any single fluted cutter will eventually take out your spindle in a small milling machine!

    Good Lathe Deal from Enco

Bypass the heater relay & it will work. Thats how I fixed my jet lathe! These relays are junk!

    Good Lathe Deal from Enco

Did you check to see if the Heater Relay is set to its highest possible setting? The knob will turn a full 360 degrees so you need to play around with it until it works! I had this happen on 2 machines already. I don't see the heater reply in the pictures you posted.

    Good Lathe Deal from Enco

The motor heats up and kicks the breaker. Rick What amp breaker is kicking out 15 amp or 20 amp. You may be under rated in amperage with the 110 circuit. I would still wire it up 220 single phase a 15 amp circuit would be plenty, you may need a 30 amp circuit wired at 110 volts! My China...

    Good Lathe Deal from Enco

If you wire it up with 2 legs of your 208 3 phase power the little motor on your lathe won't care. Our 3 phase power is 240 volts at our plant. Have you put a volt meter on your 208 volt circuit to see if it runs real low? I sure wouldn't be afraid to try it. If Enco sets up your control panel...

    Good Lathe Deal from Enco

You can get single phase power from a 3 phase circuit, just use the 2 low voltage legs from your 3 phase power. We do this all the time. You can get single phase 110V or 220V from the 3 phase circuit. You shouldn't need to have the lathe modified at all!

    14x40 lathe DRO

Also, my lathe has the typical big steering wheel to traverse in the X axis direction. I think it works on rack & pinion action. It would seem to me kind of a coarse way of making teeny thou-like movements or converging to a X.trash" position with a DRO. It is not a problem to stop the X...

Tool dig in. Part, slide and moral totally shattered.

When taking heavy cuts or using a parting tool if the compound is set parallel with the crossfeed I think there would be less stress on the dovetail. From the first photo it appears the compound was set at 90 degrees to the crossfeed.

Tool dig in. Part, slide and moral totally shattered.

I have been in the Tool & Die industry since 1971. I have operated metal lathes since I was in High School (1960's). Until I read this thread I have never heard of anyone using a parting tool with a tail stock & live center. This would be equivalent to milling a piece of bar stock in half when...

    Silver soldering 12L14 Steel

I probably wouldn't use 12L14 for a Crankshaft. (too soft & it bends easily) I use the water hardening ground rod sold by Enco. It silver solders real nice with flux applied, It makes a nice strong crankshaft.

Cutting curves in flywheel without rotary table

You could scribe good lines & free hand mill as close as possible. Then grab a good curved file & shape the spokes. It takes time but it works. Rotary table set ups take a lot of time also.

    dwg to pdf converter

I downloaded DraftSight & it worked great for 30 days. I didn't want to pay for the Pro Version so Draftsight reverts back to the free version which is very de-tuned & no longer will save as a PDF file. I believe the Pro Version will cost $600. PS: I may have been confused with DoubleCad I...

    Reamer Resizing

How deep was the hole you needed to ream? Why not just bore it to size. They make small boring bars! Also once you made your .124 reamer dull from honing, it probably will cut undersize. I have a drawer full of reamers that are dull & cut under the size they actually measure.

    Lil' Angel x2's new brother

I used a 12V coil & a relay for the points just like I have done successfully on several other IC engines.

    Lil' Angel x2's new brother

Very nice Job on the Angel. I built one about 3 years ago & never could get it to run??? It may not have enough compression, I tried a cast iron ring first then an o-ring. My ignition system may also have a problem, I gave up after many days of fooling around with it, makes a nice paper...
