Very impressive! I bought a WoodPecker casting kit last year. I need to finish up the Frisco Standard engine first.

    My 1895 MERY engine

I love these Mery engines, I built 3 of them in 2008. I added a functional Fly ball Governor and a generator. There were only 2 of the original full size engines ever built. About 200 model casting kits were sold. The engine started out as a steam engine & was converted to an internal...

    Machining weldments

Not if you use mild steel welding rods!

    Machining weldments

What type of material are you welding? Mild steel will not require any treatment. Cast Iron & Tool Steel should preheated to prevent cracking. Alloy steel should be anealled if you plan on machining the welded area.

    Boyar Schultz surface grinder?

The 6-12 Boyer Schultz grinder is an excellent machine for the home workshop, I have one & its great. I like the permanent magnetic chuck & the one shot oilier. The Boyer Schultz has a stud casted into the bottom of the table, I have seen a few of these broken off from someone hitting the dead...

    I stole a lathe!!!

I would drill & tap a hole & screw in a hardened shoulder pin w/loctite.

    Piston pin is off center

I would bore the hole over where it belongs & press in a couple of plugs & re-drill the hole on center. It looks like you have a large enough wall thickness for a good plug. I don't like to start over!

    Tool ID help

Looks like some homemade milling vice parallels. Probably just some mild steel with lightening holes.

    Good Lathe Deal from Enco

Wow! I bet the gearbox is full of swarf! Is this the main spindle bearing? Looks like the balls were soft!

3 Fluted indexable wisper cutters work great & put less stress on machinery.

    Maverick model engine starting problems

Is there any fuel coming out the back side of your piston? I have found that it is extremely easy to flood these little engines before the rings get seated. Take out the spark plug & squirt in a little 2 cycle engine oil. Once the engine runs for a few minutes the rings will seat & it run like a...

    Copyright on old engines

No this was way before the Dinky Deeres. The kit I am referring to was a lot larger than the Dinky Deere kits.

    Copyright on old engines

I remember many years ago someone sold 1/2 scale casting kits for a 1 1/2HP John Deere Hit & Miss engine. Only a few of these kits were ever sold before JD put a stop to it. This was a very nice all cast Iron kit. About 2-3 years ago I saw one of these kits sell for about $3000.00 on eBay. Does...

    Tangential tool flycutter

I manage a Tool & Die shop we have 18 Bridgeports, I won't let the guys use single fluted flycutters I have seen too many collet key ways ruined & the keys sheared off in the spindles. Its the interupted cut that puts all the shock on the collet & spindle.
