    over the years my feet have become "educated" to catch a small delicate part and get out of the way of a larger heavy piece. also never try to catch a part with your foot flat on the floor, it hurts less with movement available :rolleyes:

    this is the type of indicator holder that i have used for 40+ years. it clamps on the OD of the quill, buy or make to suit your mill. the rod can be made any length for larger diameters...

    i think it's interesting that the Grizzly manual does not show any of the steps for actually making all of the various single lip cutters it is capable of making. perhaps that's why the Deckel manual is so large.

    another option that i have used for a displacer is a grill cleaning block. they are a closed cell, super lightweight pumice stone material. it can be drilled/machined easily and held to the rod with nut and washer and high temp adhesive.

    Why a forum on disabilities?

    i have visited a model maker that worked in a redone closet by using smaller machines and building exquisite small models. all work was done sitting down. he had a small shop vac to keep chips out of the rest of the apartment :)

    Tom was a great guy, when i bought my first model kit, a Wyvern, from him he thought i should start with something simpler :) i was sad to hear when he died. i don't know of anyone that took over his castings and business.
