    Minh-Thanh, those "perfect conditions" are good enough for calculating loads required of a Diesel con-rod, required injection pressure, and anything else you can think about. "flash point" and "auto ignition" temperatures are both irrelevant for Diesel operation. so what's your point ? Pete.

    My "Hansen" Diesel has a stroke of 40mm, and a head space at TDC of 2mm, so ~20:1, diameter doesn't factor in, its that simple :-) !!! (technically its 42:2, but 40:2 is close enough for gov't work !)

    Yup, that's the stuff (with "flake" graphite) !!! (stay away from "ductile iron", that's not the stuff, it has "nodular" graphite which does not have the same self-lubricating / non-galling properties we desire)

    problem is "durabar" is more of a company name than an alloy specification, you need to know which of the many alloys they supply that you're considering, they do make a "gray cast iron" but that's not what you typically get on for example eBay.
