Looking for inexpensive carb for trial running of Seal Major 30cc

On RC carbs and in particular cars, the choke area is reduced with inserts that sit in the top of the choke well above the barrel or slide, these work well and you don't have the problems that you mention with the idle needle.

Looking for inexpensive carb for trial running of Seal Major 30cc

Petertha You are quite right about second needles (idle needles) but there is no required physical relationship between the main and idle needles as the idle needles relationship and interaction is with the spray bar which is slightly or greatly downstream of the main needle. OS and other...

Looking for inexpensive carb for trial running of Seal Major 30cc

Most of those carbs (Walbro style) pick up some crankcase pressure pulse to work I diaphragm pump because they are mostly two strokes. From what I see the OP's Irvine carb would seem similar to the original, although I am not sure why he does not just make the carb as per plan.

Looking for inexpensive carb for trial running of Seal Major 30cc

Basil Remember that on carbs like you illustrate (Irvine) the needle valve is nothing more than a flow restrictor, it or equivalent flow restrictor can be placed anywhere in the fuel line. The Irvine carb linked below is for a 20cc 2 stroke so will be a decent bore. B. Carburettors – Just...

Looking for inexpensive carb for trial running of Seal Major 30cc

Basil In the UK we are lucky as there still companies producing model aircraft engines on a small scale. Try Weston UK and Laser Engines, the boss of Weston UK is on holiday this week, his name is Alan Greenfield he will be able to help when he is back, also worth trying is Tony Efflander at...

lathe tooling for casting kit. Turning a lot of iron and bronze, occasional aluminum I suppose.

Richard We probably should take this discussion somewhere else. However the shear consumption of materials and resources which are demanded (not Chinas fault) and supplied by China at great cost to the Planet is just not sustainable. You only have to look at the pollution and shear...

lathe tooling for casting kit. Turning a lot of iron and bronze, occasional aluminum I suppose.

I don't underestimate them, I just don't don't much like them. I am not sure the Japs had much manufacturing base left in September 1945. China has been industrialised as long as any other country. My hope is that they implode from within, what they are doing is no favour to anyone including...

lathe tooling for casting kit. Turning a lot of iron and bronze, occasional aluminum I suppose.

I am afraid the China situation is nothing like the Japanese recovery in the 1950's and 60's and therefore your analogy is some what flawed. So WW2 ended 1945 by the late 1950's Japanese brands were forging out in their own right very notable were companies like Honda and Sony, these companies...

    Hello every one

I flew RC models in North Carolina back in 1989, at that old Navel airship base, I understand one of the hangers burnt down? I was practising for the World Championships held up in Chesapeke Bay. B.

    Hello every one

OK, understand what you are saying, blind obedience is not good. For sure I know those Americans you talk about. I don't have stacks of 'Made in the USA' but currently using Sunnen hones, what a range they have. Most of my gear is Austrian, Swiss or German, I defy anyone to find something dodgy...

    Hello every one

Well speaking as a Englishman, I can say with a high degree of confidence that there are orders of magnitude more decent tools manufactured in the USA in the last century than China. There are exceptions to the well made USA tools but not many. I still value the title 'Made in the USA' B.

    Hello every one

John The Chinese lathe/machine tool discussion has been done to death on the internet. I would make the following points. The Chinese are capable of the highest quality manufacturing imaginable, take a smart phone, it is a perfect piece of manufacturing. However the market for near perfect...

Advice sought re: 3D printer purchase

For organic 3D models then try MOI (Moment Of Inspiration) it can be used well for more mechanical things like Lohring's cylinders . MoI, 3D modeling for designers and artists (moi3d.com) I have used this for very organic surfaces like the wing and tail surfaces on this RC pylon racer...

Advice sought re: 3D printer purchase

Folks there are lots of good points in Stones reply. I was lucky with the Dremel printer, the first part worked great and then I was making my own designs in no time at all. I was only in one learning process that being slicing and materials as the machine is prebuilt and tested. I would...

Price would be one reason to look at what is available, skeleton open structure would be another. For sure they are good printers though.

Advice sought re: 3D printer purchase

I have printed with flexible PU (shore hardness 95), that is what the bung in the fuel tank was done with, feeding the flexible PU is a challenge as it buckles between the feed mechanism and the nozzle, but I have managed to get quite a few PU components out. My favourite material is the HT...

Advice sought re: 3D printer purchase

I have used and recommended to others the Dremel/Flashpoint Dreamer printers, whilst a little smaller than some printers they are totally enclosed and UL and CE rated and have Bosch engineering behind the Dremel version. These printers work great straight out of the box, no fiddling, they print...
