    vertical lamina flow engine?

Stan, I'm finding very much the same things you are but here my thoughts: I found that if I left some dead space at the top of the cylinder performance was enhanced significantly but there is the possiblity that with such low specific power any deviation in bore roundness or in the lapping of...

    What is hit and miss?

There are a few of us here in the same boat, it seems that once you have a little experience as a youngster this machining bug incubates and niggles away at you until you just HAVE to make some chips again. Looking forward to seeing your workshop come to life! David

    Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition 2008

SWMBO has just signed the treaty of Leamington after long negotations and great personal cost. I'll be there most of the day, are we still meeting at 12:30? David

    vertical lamina flow engine?

Join the club Stan, I'm in the same situation but there is one thing that has helped me gain some repeatability. When the hot end is heated in a lamina engine the overall pressure in the cylinder increases, sometimes to a point where the piston stops at TDC, you then need to wait until the...

    vertical lamina flow engine?

No really Nick, the experimental version was almost offensive, even my 7 year old boy laughed at it, I couldn't take the shame!!! David

    vertical lamina flow engine?

I'm just about ready now to start making a presentable vertical lamina engine, I've done all the testng I can and now have a running, if embarassingly ugly and very tempremental, test engine. No pictures, it's just too ugly :o. It will probably look quite similar to the one posted earlier in...

My first IC-engine - smaller version Webster four-stroke

Reminds me of those boys in thier 1.1 litre Citroen Saxo's (compacts for our friends in the U.S) with 8" exhaust tail pipes! ;D Kind of suits this little one though, it's looking great. David

    UK Cut off saw cheap.....

Well I'm hoping that the blades last a very long time that way it wont be such a hit when replacing them. On Ralph's recommendation I took a quick "sunday drive" to my nearest Aldi and pocketed myself one of these, I must say after the few cuts I have just done with it I'm over the moon, what a...

    motorised mill

Much kudos Ian, I apologise for my response to your post also, we really must learn to calm down ;D It's so easy to read/see something and make an immediate and possibly ill judged response in real life not to mention here where the subtleties of a well meaning post can be easily missed.. It's...

    UK Cut off saw cheap.....

Hi Ralph, just replied to your PM. What are the specs for the unit? Would you say it is a fair replacement for a powered hacksaw/bandsaw, it looks a bit more compact which is always nice?

Or perhaps a thread on the importance of diplomacy when trying to get your point accross? Is there an ignore button on this forum?

Looks like super work to me, what was it going to be used for or was it just a "because I can" project (the best kind). David

    Lathe-mounted cameras

No input on the mount question but as an aside: This phenomena only occurs with CRT displays as the electrons that are fired at the phosphor coating on the screen are "steered" with an electrical/magnetic field, the presence of a magnet interferes with that. Modern CRTs are not damaged EASILY...
