Well it has been over 100° for the last few days here. That makes it hard to get in the shop. The joys of living in Nevada!
I did find a thread dial project in the November 1940 popular science magazine. It is even for the south bend 9. It is on Google books to see.
Just wish they would let you print the article to make it easier to use in the shop.

Sorry about going incognito for a while. I have been kind busy. My 89 year old dad is in hospice. That has taken priority over the lathe.
I did get a quick change tool post. Also have bottle of way oil on the way.
So not much happening.
 
Your father should always take priority. I know how hard it is, my only brother was in hospice until he passed. Will remember you in our prayers.

Thank you! He passed last night peacefully in his sleep. I guess my brother and I will be a while dealing with his estate.
That is slightly less stressful.
 
Sorry to hear about your father.
Lots of things to be resoved physically and mentally; at least that was how it was for me.
Takes time to work it all out.
