    DIY Tesla Impulse Turbine

Not sure what holes you refer to?? Drilled nozzle holes are 0.026" (0.66mm) diameter. if it helps, that drawing is to scale. I know a few uses for air knives, but I've never studied how they're constructed.

Unfortunately, no; the nozzles are not Convergent-Divergent,...only Divergent. Each nozzle hole was made by drilling a hole into a brass tube (see post #1). I have access to the outside of the tube to machine the divergent cone, but there's no easy way to get access to the holes from inside...

Funny you should mention De Laval. When the center drills I ordered arrive, I will use them to drill out the current straight drilled holes, reshaping them into a more divergent (De Laval) nozzle, as this drawing shows. The conical nozzles formed by the center drill isn't ideal, but it's a lot...

How much pressure will the boiler give you, and do you think it will be able to keep up with the demands of the turbine ?

I very much appreciate your faith in my machining abilities, and I did spend more than a few minutes seriously considering building my own pump,....even went so far as to check what Aluminum stock I have, and was it the right size. Even drew up a few rough pencil sketches. In the end, my...

I will wait for the bright red more powerful washer to arrive, and when it does, I can asses the build quality of the pump, hook it up and see how well it performs on my boiler. If I'm really lucky, reverse engineering wont be necessary. Thinking ahead, these pumps are so small, light, and...

This past Dec., when I was still looking for the prefect feed pump, and before I purchased the beast I'm using now, I purchased this Cordless Pressure Washer ; with a price under $30, and a claim of 60 bar and10 LPM, I had to try it. After I had a chance to test it, I found the max flow rate...

Thanks for the suggestion. I visited their web site but did not find any hydraulic pumps.

I ran their numbers through the hydraulic power formula to see if their claims made sense. The pump would need a 600 watt motor, which are available and used in some cordless electric drills. The 21 volt 4 Ah battery could easily supply 600 watts for an hour. So the math says their claims...

    Monotube Flash Boiler Design

Keeping the current pump and installing either a by-pass arrangement or a speed reducer (pulley or geared) would most likely work,....but it's not a very elegant solution. Another important consideration to me is keeping the weight down, and using a much smaller, lighter feed pump would be...

    Monotube Flash Boiler Design

Recent tests have shown that I need a smaller feed pump; 2 LPM at 60 bar (870 psi) should work nicely. Any suggestions on where I can find one? I finally ran a few tests at max fuel burn and as with all the previous test runs, the boiler output was unrestricted. With the feed pump set to 14%...

Thailand has numerous hardware stores, much like the big-box stores found in the US (Home Depot) and carry mostly home-use items. Stores that carry hardware for builders like me, are typically mom-&-pop stores that carry a mixed bag of items,...one store may have what I want, but I need to go...
