I know that, since my last weather report, you guys have probably been worrying about how I'm doing out here in the land of fruits of nuts.

Well, it really was a vicious winter but the thermometer...

proves that we're recovering from the icy blasts nicely, thank you very much.

Just thought y'all would want to know.

I'm going to try to find my asbestos coat now...

We'll be there eventually, Marv. Soon as the permafrost thaws out...

Say, can you see the sun through that brown muck you guys use for air?

Nice...

It has warmed up quite quickly here as well.
Almost 60°F here today. The sudden snow melt had us under a
flood watch for a few days, but that has passed.
Now the clean up begins. When you have two dogs who get tied out back
for their nature needs all winter and the snow suddenly melts, things tend
to pile up. BIG PILES!

Ah, yes, I shot an arrow into the air...and it stuck!

We don't trust air we can't taste. (And, in the old days, coming over the pass into the LA basin you could taste it - it dissolved in your saliva and tasted a bit like sulphuric acid.)

Don't tell anyone but it's not like that anymore. Ever since the Draconian emission laws were instituted it's cleared up nicely. On a hot, still summer day you can see a bit of brown over downtown but it's nothing like it once was. I live next to the coast so we don't have smog, even in summer.

With the LA area earthquake report this morning, I thought you might be in a refugee camp.

LOL, when I was sailing (circa 1980) I could always tell when we were within a couple hundred miles of LA due to the orange/brown stain on the horizon. The last time I was there (2000) it was much cleaner. Went to Palomar, very little trace of LA except for the urban sprawl.

Speaking of spring... What a surprise this morning. We rarely get a significant snowfall around here, especially on the second day of spring. But it's already trying to melt and the temperature will be back in the low 70's in a couple of days.

Yeah, what a difference a day makes. I was out doing yard work Friday in shirt sleeves and then yesterday morning it started snowing and accumulated 2". Now then today just a bit of snow remains in the shady areas and tomorrow the temps are supposed to be back in the 60's once again. Summer is coming, someday over the rainbow.

Last tuesday it was +17C driving to the airport, tonight it is going down to -20C and a daytime high of -3C. The only good thing about the cold is, the ice on the lake will still be thick enough to support the planes coming in with our groceries and fuel, al least for another couple of weeks. 36 inches of ice will support a loaded DC-3 or DC-4
