This is pretty cool. It's a slow motion video taken inside the cylinder of a running 4 stroke engine. You can see the piston, the valves, the fuel entering the cylinder and the power stroke.

Way Cool. I would like to see the rest of the set up.
 
If you watch closely you can see that the fuel mixture is still burning when the exhaust valve opens. I would presume this was taken inside a cylinder with normal valve events etc.

Wow, I think that proves the "Theory" of internal combustion.
The intake stroke is my favorite.

That video has been around for a few years. It's interesting even though part of the cycle is missing. The original clip only shows one cycle. The yellow flames that are visible are not the fuel burning. This is most likely oil in the cylinder. Fuel doesn't normally burn that late in the stroke. In a typical engine and typical mixture all of the fuel is consumed by 40° ATDC. If you pay attention the "fog" after the plug fires is actually the blue flame of the fuel mixture burning. It fades at about 30°ATDC when ~90% of the mixture would normally be consumed. The crank angle is in the bottom left corner of the clip.

Very perceptive Greg.

I was impressed by the duration of the spark at that camera speed, as well as the
timing being a bit quick toward the TDC position. The visible flame may have
something to do with a hole in the cylinder head to allow the insertion of a
fiber optics camera. A little extra air in an IC engines combustion chamber
would naturally produce a more visible flame.

It is still a great video of working end of an IC engine.
