Thicknesses of liners/piston rings etc

Gday all

With regards to a cast iron cylinder liner, what sort of wall thickness in material is acceptable? Does it matter?

What about piston rings? If for example I make a 26mm diameter piston, what sort of ring width/thickness should I be aiming for? Does a large ring width effect sealing abilities? Does the void behind the ring(within the piston ring gap) effect performance if it is too large/small?
