OK Guys,we've decided that you've held the land speed record, for a steam powered car ( 1906 - Stanley Steamer ) for long enough. In August we're going to try to take it away from you dammed colonials to put with the one we won for the steam powered Loco ( Mallard)

Be prepared,

Interesting - with the current fuel crisis will we all be driving steam/Stirling cars in nthe not too distant future.

My Father - a BR Steam engineer all his life was one of the engineers who preped the Mallard before its record run. he always insisted they were never told it would be a record attempt but just "do a good job the nobs are on board"

He also had to maintain the rod ends after the run!

The record run happened not far from where I live at present.
