I received my admission letter yesterday, and will be taking a lathe operations course two nights a week, 4 hours each night, at the local techical college (Lanier Tech). ;D It turns out I am eligible for an education grant supported by the state lottery, so the tuition is paid for and it will cost me only $35 a quarter. The only downside is that the school is a 60 mile r/t, so it'll cost a bit in gas.
The curriculum has 2 quarters each for lathe and mill, so as long as I'm enjoying the process I can keep going. Then there's 2 quarters for CNC machining (school has 2 Haas vertical machines and a horizontal).
I think it will be fun working with a lot of young guys in the courses. I met the instructor last month, and he said it will be nice for him to teach someone older than he and who has less hair.
