Hi All.
Just wondering if anybody has seen these made of metal. They are sold for wood work but work very well for light duty sanding /polishing on to metal lathe . Being plastic they are not much chop on metal and require a bit of sanding to flatten out the blade. Very quick to change emery grades and very secure and a little over $ 12 bucks each. I have one disassembled just to see how to make one .
Cheers
John

Hi John,

I've been using a similar tool for years ! I simply glue the required grade of abrasive to a suitable length of wood strip. Though now a days, I use double sided adhesive tape to secure the emery paper. I even just use the wood and fine lapping paste for polishing.

That looks to be a snazzy tool. Reminds me of those "Abrafile" that were about some time ago.

Have you seen these:

About 150 mm long and 6 mm wide with a 5 mm wide belt.

I was given these by the foreman at one of the engineering shops that I visit. The packet contained the tool and ten belts of around 300 grit.

Very easy to get into corners.

To change the belt you just depress this end and slip the belt off.

I've not had a play with this yet so I don't know how effective they will be, but it is pretty nice.

Thanks all.
I have been using flat wood with an emery strip glued to it with spray adhesive , double side tape sounds better.
John
