I just purchased a 3 axis DRO from DRO PROS and I am concerned about the install of the Z (quill) scale.

I have one of those round column mill/drills and there is not an even surface anywhere in sight.

I will have to come up with some creative bracketry to install the scale.

I am thinking about making brackets to hold the scale steady and the read head would be connected through a quasi flexible link to the bottom of the quill. I need it sort of flexible because the quill has a tiny bit of "Slop" in the radial direction.

I guess my question is more of a request, Could I get some good pics of a glass scale being mounted on a quill. It does not have to be a mill drill necessarily just a quill.
