Project recomentation for a watchmakers lathe

Just recently, i had a Wolf,Jahn watchmakers lathe following me home
It is in a perfect working order with original wooden box and accessories, plus 7 other boxes full of various tools, bits and bobs, mainly for watchmaking.
This is my first lathe ever and i was wondering if i could use it for any project other than watchmaking. Can anyone suggest of an engine?

I agree, its really useless, you ought to sell it to me.

But if your question was what kind of motor to get to run it I would look at the Sherline DC motor. Its quiet and powerful and variable speed.

Nahhhh, i would not sell a useless tool to anyone. 😂
I already have a motor, just not mounted at the time of the foto.
Its an old sewing machine motor, 1/15 hp.

I agree completely with ron, I have used sherline motor/ dc drive setup on a Derbyshire magnus watchmakers lathe as well as a Derbyshire micro mill and they work extremely well. Plenty of power and good speed control.

I use mine to make small bushings and shafts for everything from watches, clocks, musical instrument repair, and gauges. It is also handy for drilling small holes such as ceramic burner jets. An XY cross feed is nice for turning small parts. Mine gets a lot of use.
