Nice Paolo!

Sorry for the silly question...but how does the bit stay in the slot?

Gravity? Nah Zee, I suspect it locks in with a taper.

Carbide parting inserts typically have shallow V grooves top and bottom which mate with the holder. The 'mouth' of the holder provides clamping force on the insert, it needs to be sprung open a little to get the insert in and out.

Hi zeeprogrammer
the answer correct is..."Carbide parting inserts typically have shallow V grooves top and bottom which mate with the holder. The 'mouth' of the holder provides clamping force on the insert, it needs to be sprung open a little to get the insert in and out"...and its really works...
Dave..you catch ed the subliminal message...Yes I'm working on it...it's a very hard work..but!!!!

Just for maintaining the currency I did another tool holder..a taper insert tool holder...
