As some of you know my son has kind of gotten me into the sport of Airsoft. IIRC last November He got me out to the field at R 14 (range 14) which is the Fort Dix rod and gun club. We played with a group. At that time this was the largest group ever out on the field.
we were on the green team.
Next month we hope to get back out on the field. I have since purchased a airsoft thompson and my son has hooked me up with real wood furniture. He also gave me a nice sling with uncle mike disconnects. so now I have a problem. I can hook the uncle mike sling to the standard cheap loops on the air soft gun. No wrong answer too ghetto. I could use a cheap sling on the cheap swivels. again not what I want . And the uncle mike buttons I see just are not make for my application.
So I have to do things the hard way . Carve out steel plates form some 3/4 x 1/8 stock. drill the plates, countersink . Make the buttons weld together and drill out the buttons then blacken.
So from the pic you can see the old cheap pot metal sling loop. Then the Uncle Mikes swivel. Mounted is the new plate with button. I of course had to make two but they are the same.
Fun little project.
The plate material left overs from scroll work projects the buttons a piece of rod from an old printer. The feeling of accomplishment from working in the shop priceless.
