We've got a spammer and no mods in the forum right now.

Anyone know how to ring their buzzer?

Kermit,
Just click the "report to moderator" in the lower right corner of the offending message and an email is sent to all moderators. So even if they are not on the forum they will get the message as soon as they check their email. First one available will take care of the problem.

Thanks to everyone who helps this way. It really helps a lot to keep the board cleaned up.

We actually had two Spammers hit us today.
Both of those memberships have been terminated.
It will not be the last of them. It is an ongoing battle for us to
remove them as they are reported to us.

Thank You Kermit and the rest of our members who reported these actors.
We can't keep all of them from getting through our current security.
Increasing that security to the next level would make joining the forum a
complicated and confusing ordeal for a legitimate individual.
I would rather not do that. We do depend heavily on the "Community Watch"
system here. If any member sees something that shouldn't be here,
PLEASE REPORT IT! We will take care of it as soon as possible.

The team's been doing a good job. I'm on here a lot and only rarely do I run across spam. A lot of that is sneak-spam where the spammer posts what might be a legitimate post ("I'm really interested in <topic title here>, please send more info" or whatever), then sneaks a spam link into their signature.

I'm a mod on another forum and even with extra logon requirements, spammers still get in every now and then. Banning known spam ISPs in the far east helps, but also can block legitimate members.
