Hi Guys,

I have been making swarf in my workshop since my mid 20's and over the intervening years have acquired a comprehensive workshop including 4 lathes, 3 mills and 2 shapers. I have a reputation at the Guildford model Engineers for buying castings at every opportunity (a girl cannot have too many castings, especially if they are at a bargain price).

So far I have completed a Stuart 10V, Stuart Beam, Steeple, Lady Stephaine and a Mary. My partial build list includes a Double tandem Compound (nearly finished needs painting, hate painting), a Grasshopper (must get back onto those small fiddly fish bellied rods), R&B Gas Engine and Cross Compound Corliss.

My future plans (ok casting collection) include a Stuart triple, Boulton and Watt bell crank engine, as well as 2 versions of my Universities Stothert and Pitt beam engine one a 12th scale engine and one totally scratch built in 6th scale.

Tool porn is also appreciated!!!

No offense meant!!! That is what my wife calls it when she catches me on here, youtube, ebay etc....

Hi Jo,

I very rarely welcome new members, I usually leave that to other people, but I do read all about what new members have to say for themselves.

So from me, a hearty welcome.

This is where I start to grovel. ;D

I notice you have built the R&B.

I am to be starting that sometime in the future, and most of my planning has been done, but I am stuck on one part on how to machine it, maybe you can give me a few pointers when you have the time.

Jo,

Welcome to our forum. wEc1

Best Regards

Glad to see you made it Jo - welcome aboard!

Many thanks for that Jo.

I am looking to do most of the machining on the mill if possible, as it is very uncomfortable for me setting up large projects on the lathe. Just setting something up in the four jaw takes me ages, on the mill, I can sit down to do almost everything.

I look forwards to more pics.
