Hi everyone my name is John, I'm 24 years old, and I'm a combustion engineer (Batch and Furnace Department) at a glass bottle manufacturing plant.

I was recently transferred with work from Ohio out to California.

My current machinery consists of a taig cnc mill (2019CR-ER) and a taig lathe. I recently installed the power feed kit for my lathe. I am trying to find something a little bit bigger (SB, Enco, Unimat) with threading capability for the future. But what I have works well for now.

Some pictures of my taig lathe:

I am a fan of the J.E Howell engine kits (Mini Stirling Engine Fan/Miser engine). The mini stirling engine fan is a project I am working on for my dads 50th birthday. So far I have only completed some small tooling projects, an oscilating engine (as posted on LMS) and a wedding gift for my wife.

Looks like a good group of guys here and I hope to contribute as much as I can.

Howdy John and welcome to the forum. I'm a newbie here to. You have a fine looking lathe there, in fact it's the same thing I have. I bought mine around 10 yrs ago from ebay. Seems an old feller had it and passed on. Sure is an old one, but when I got it, it was like brand new. I've been out of the turning circuit for quite a spell, but fixen on gettin back at it real soon. I'm retired now, so I have a lot of time to tinker.
So how do ya like it out there? I was fixen on movin out there 20 yrs ago, but changed my mind. I used to drive semi back and fourth from there, to Mass. and back. Well, have fun.

Welcome John...Jerry.s mini sterling fan is a great project and one of my favorotes of his along with the half scale miser which is one of the few I have built two of, one being a gift for my dad as well. Glad you found the site and hope you will enjoy your time here.

Regards,
Bill

Welcome John, I am looking forward to photos of Dad's birthday present.

Thanks for all the welcomes!

I will be sure to post pictures with updates as I have them available. I am currently working on some tooling to help drill holes at an angle on my lathe.
