Hi all
Help needed to identify this lathe I rescued
almost two weeks ago.
There is no ID whatsoever on it. I've tried "lathe.co .uk
no joy, hoping someone on the forum can help because
its really starting to bug me

Paul in the 1950's and early 1960's many company's were producing
kit lathes. They consisted of a few pre machined parts and instructions
on how to turn those parts into an operating lathe.
Most of them did not carry name plates or ID of any kind.

I do believe what you have there is an example from that era.

I wonder if any of them made it here to Hawaii, either as a territory or as a state. I need to dig around some more.

For a suitable inducement at least one could.

Well, I know the one in Australia's not going to budge (behind the scenes conversation, folks, not telepathy :)) but it's about the right size and nature to still fit the shop and give me slightly more capacity than the Taig which would be a good thing. Something of the order of a 6xSomething-reasonable would be very pleasant indeed.

Looks like some local noodling around is going to happen to see what turns up. The population for the entire island is around 870,000 (not counting tourists) which doesn't give me a large pool to work with but it's something and there is always hope.

On the positive side, the longest round trip I can take here without getting very wet is about 120 miles, and the concept of ohana makes everyone family by extension (There's a saying that when someone from elsewhere marries a local, they marry the island.) so it's all good.

Best regards,

Kludge
