Hello,
I saw a Wimshurst machine on YouTube. I had never heard about it earlier and went on binge watching all the videos about it. After collecting all the required materials I made myself a Wimshurst machine.
The disc are 250mm acrylic with 20 sector each. Sector are made from copper tape. The pulleys have 2.5:1 ratios. Layden jars are plastic bottles with aluminium foil inside and outside. Brass drawer knobs are used as spark electrodes.
The machine is producing sparks about 20-25mm in length.

My kids are very happy and take turns playing with the machine all day.
