I now realise it was sadly lacking in pneumatics.

Also remember having to scrape a 2ft diameter valve plate. The guy I worked under was probably the most miserable sod one would ever come across. In the 6 weeks I was there he probably spoke 10 times to me and they would be ‘morning’. Whenever he wanted your attention he would throw some nuts and bolts at you. You would look at him and he would just slowly very slowly shake his head side to side, meaning “not like that”. The day I left (to go to another dept) I said goodbye to him, and he didn’t even answer.

My Dad told me this and by God if he said it was true it was.

"I don't have to tell you if you did well and neither does anyone else. You already know you did. But by God Almighty you do something wrong and I will be right there to tell you." My mentors during my Apprenticeship thought the same way. It was just their way.

Hi Bill,

Absolutely - but most were fine, but one had to do as one was told or you would get a clout or swift kick up the back side. Not hard just to show who is the boss.
