I think we all learn something new every day. And a liitle google bird has just showed me there is a new (Nov 2011) National Historic park in Patterson NJ. I have been to Patterson more than once for work. but this is new to me.

there are several parks and a museum in the area . in its day patterson produced huge amounts of silk, there was a locomotive works and one of the first and now restored hydroelectric facilities in the the US. Colt firearms started in patterson . thereis also submarine history associated with the town. interesting indeed.

I have been within two miles of this place but never knew it existed.

The Patterson museum is worth a visit to see john Hollands Fenian Ram submarine. If you go during the week and call in advance they may let you get inside the sub to see a really neat Brayton cycle gas engine. I have been inside it twice over the years.
