Anyone know why subscriptions to this magazine are not allowed for citizens of the U.S? I sent an email to the subscription dept., inquiring as to why, but have received no answer.

(Glad to know readership is so high they can afford to be that picky...)

Yes, I found it! Thank you.

However, $106 dollars for 12 issues is a little to much like robbery for me to agree with. I'll just have to make models without a 60 page mag of pretty pictures to drool over.

:(

(But it is good to know the subject is popular enough to be successful at those price$) ;D

The $106 price is for 26 issues, which works out to a bit over $4 US per issue. But, wait there is more! It looks like you get a headband magnifier!

It is still $106... or $136 for First Class (~ $5.23 US per issue).

The headband seems to be UK subscriptions only.

AND I don't care if they give you 52 issues a year. over $100 dollars for info, the likes of which can be found at places like this for FREE is just not gonna happen for this old boy. You can keep pitching but I'm not swinging my bat at it. :D

I had a subscription to ME for a long time. However, the tenor of the magazine changed markedly. Now it's essentially a model railroading rag. Nothing wrong with model railroading but it's not one of my interests. ME was good when it lived up to its name and covered diverse aspects of model engineering. Now it isn't worth buying unless you're in to model railroading.

If you want more diversity of topic than locomotives, you can try Model Engineer's Workshop. Same people but more varied.

Hi Kermit

I'm going to have a go at building a stationary engine soon. I posted a question in the plans section of this forum and had several replies pointing me to back issues of model engineer. Volumes 183 and 184 from the year 2000. I managed to get both volumes off e-bay for under £30.00. It might be worth looking there for more recent issues.

I've sent you a PM as well.

Cheers

Rich
