I have a newly built 30% scale model aircraft that I want to design and build a replacement undercarriage for. It currently has a welded spring steel type undercarriage.
The aircraft is 4 mtr span and weighs 22 kgs flying weight.
I will consider some commercial ones if they do not break the budget, but so far, all I have seen are very expensive.
So, I am wondering if I can make some myself. I have some air struts that I have removed the gas from and some compression springs that would be around the right weight support rating. However, to convert them properly with good seals and bushes either end and with a suitable piston and oil, would involved a bit science and research on my part.
Is there anyone reading that might have had some experience or knowledge of something like this? If so, please reply with any details.
I will attach a couple of picture of the plane.
