was browsing the web a bit and came across an interesting site Harvey tools http://www.harveytool.com/products/index.php

Neat stuff. the real small stuff solid carbide is about $ 30 a piece but if you need a .005" diameter ball end mill or a 1/16 diameter thread mill or a boring bar to bore a 1/32 diameter hole. How about a .002" drill bit. this is the place to look. Just looking they seem to have a real nice selection of tiny tooling. Worth a look. Normal disclaimers no affiliation or experience with this company .

Tin, thanks for the link.

It is really neat stuff, sure would come in handy for those "small builds".

Nice tools!

My favorite micro tool supplier is Drill Bit City.
They also offer .005" end mills. My mini mill spindle runs out .001".
If I tried to cut with a .005" end mill I'd end up with an itchy
spot in my forehead that would take weeks to go away. :D

Working on that scale in incredible.
Seeing the tools made to work at that scale is amazing!

Rof} So true!

I am always reading posts on this and other boards from people who work to .0001" tolerance and on one board there is a member who claims micron precision but few shops, including the full time job shops, have spindles that have the necessary speed and runout for anything that small.

An intersting post,I had to drill a 0.008 dia hole in brass the other day, that was small enough

I see no sense in machining parts to a tolerance smaller than visible light so I try to stay above .000019 inch resolution when marking my lines with a sharpie. :big:

only FIVE decimal places of precision??

Isn't that being just a wee sloppy? ::)
