Per Don's request, here are a few shots of my sons "little beast"

It started life as a stock Vendetta ST, and has evolved and morphed into something completely different

Brushless motor, 2S lipo batteries, suspension, steel gears and ball diffs, new custom body and mounts, crash bars....ect

The battery will put out 40 amps @ 7.4 volts for 3 minutes continuous...the motor will take almost double that for bursts! yet is only 18mm in diameter with a 2mm shaft and spins at something like 40000 rpm. The car is 10 inches long and has 4 wheel drive, antilock brakes, and independant suspension with oil filled shocks and a rear sway bar....it rips!

My son absolutely FLOGGED it yesterday for a full 2 hours....just kept recharging the batteries....but I can't say that is how it started as it was a ritual to run and then repair....usually to the tune of $50 a shot for upgrade parts....does great wheelies!...to say nothing of donuts!

Sounds like a fun afternoon!! Some of these "toys" today are just incredible in terms of design and engineering...usue of carbon fiber parts, etc. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Bill

.....it helps when Papa Smurf has a machine shop ;D

Dave

Oh and Alexandre....if your reading this...you'll cringe after the first wreck...after that you wear the scuffs and scraps like a badge of honor :big:

I'll tell ya ...their a lot of fun...and a great science project for the kids too. My son knows WAAAY more about electricity and mechanics as a result...and we've bonded too.

Dave

Yes!!!

I like that... very cool too!!!

Soon I will assembly a new model 1:8 scale, like this in the pictures... the kit not arrived yet...

The engine is here in my house... arrived together with the radio, receivers and servos.

The radio is very nice...

Take care,

All,

You'll notice the split taper collet on the engine? Great way to fix a flywheel

Nice Rig Alexandre!

Dave

Yes, that's true!

All the engines for models are this form... very simple and functional.

Interesting is that the flywheels normaly are light and with small diameter too... basically serves to fixing of the clutch.

Cheers,

Alexandre

Still using the stock AM transmitter with the car....saving the money for now.

Perhaps the next one will be a 2.4 GHZ multifrequency jobs.

It's amazing how far the technology has come......1/2 HP from an electric motor as big around as your thumb...if you have a small thumb!

Wow, what a comeback. I can see that your son was really paying attention when you were helping him. Just the way you worded your reply to Alexandre I just had to reply the way that I did. Many many years ago I laterally wore out one of my sons Christmas presents before he even got it. The worst part is that I could not get a replacement for him so he never did get to fully enjoy it. As a result I am still buying him RC cars and airplane's. At present I have 2 RC vehicles. One is an electric 1/10 scale brushless monster truck of which I am posting a picture out of their catalog on the web. The other is a gas version similar to your sons which I have had for several years. I don't have any pictures of it available right now and the camera is broke and needs replacing. If you and your son have as much fun as my son and granddaughters and I do, you will have a blast.

Cheers :)

When you get that one built up an running you will have some serious fun. Just be sure to run it in the wide open spaces as they have a bad habit of running into anything that won't move out if the way. Don't ask me how I know. If you have as much fun with yours as I have had with mine you are in for a lot of good fun.

Cheers :)

No worries Don... I understood completely.....I got mine running today...but my daughter is running it more than I am ::)

Yeah Dave, your son's - riiiiiiight!

Very nice, just make sure you give him a turn now & then!

Well...the "baja" is down....a 10lb 1/8 scale buggy decided it looked like a target today...right rear quarter is gone...swing arms wheel, tire , and half shaft torn right off along with some of the body...chassis survived fine..give it a few days for parts to arrive.....I made sure the individual knew he was picking on an 8 year old though...I suspect he's looking for a low enough rock to crawl under right about now...I know he left abruptly from the establishment we were at after our "discussion" 8) Guess we'll call it a racing incident...even though we weren't racing.... I don't know what possess people to be raging jerks....anyway , WE got work to do.

I trust your doing better Alexandre..
