I'm feeling the need sometimes to get a closer look at what I'm doing and I guess some of you guys do as well. So what are you using? Clip on lenses, close up specs or something else. I don't mind spending a few quid on something worthwhile if it's going to last and is comfortable to wear. Any thoughts/links appreciated. I should add I bought a pair of +3 Diopter spectacles and they aren't much good but given the cost I can't really complain :D

Ditto for the Bausch&Lomb optivisors. The 8.8in. focal length works great for extra detail.
You have to get used to how close you get to things like drill chucks and grinding wheels.
Ask me how I know. Replacement lenses are available in case of a scratch.
They will allow you to do better work.

Mike

I wear eyeglasses all the time so the best solution for me is Enco's "Spring Clip Opticaid"...

(mid page on left side)

They clip to my eyeglasses and provide a stereo view with good eye relief. The major advantage is that they're far enough away from my eyes that it's easy to "look around them" when I want to view something across the room or read text through my normal bifocal lenses.

I am lucky in that i do not really need magnification yet... ;D

But to get up close and personal i prefer to use a microscope.
I have tried the opti-visors and the dual strength glasses options and both of them give me severe headaches.
They are okay for very short periods of time for me but i cannot work with them on.

I am also quite fond of the magnifying cameras that you can connect to your computer.
Very high resolution and easy to use and set up!

I'm very happily using an Optivisor as well. It works very nicely even with my progressive bi-focals.
The optional loupe gets used more frequently than I'd imagined it would and the perimeter lighting accessory is a great addition.
All in all and most satisfactory aid. I'm sure I'd still be cursing at the 9 (plus spares) Gnome's 10-32 spark plugs done last year if I didn't have the Opti-visor available for the lathe work!

I purchased mine from here ... just a satisfied customer; no more no less:

I use a magnifying glass to read everything

OT... if you start feeling your vision is going down hill get get checked out for diabetes .

I used to see great, now it sucks.

Thanks for your thoughts guys, and the links. I'll see what's available here. :)

Carl Zeiss does grind and polish the highest standard of lenses.
Your eyes are the most precious tools in your shop.

Enco is having a sale on magnification headwear right now there are some pretty good deals
