:confused:hello all recently picked up an old lufkin surface gage and it has the cool blueing also some surface rust, so i cleaned and polished the finish off :wall:My question is does anyone know how to do that cool type of blueing?*discussion*

Pick up some cold bluing from a gun shop or order it online. It works reasonably well as long as it's not handled a lot.

The 'cool bluing' you refer to is color case hardening. Not something that
is easy to do as it occurs during the original carburization and hardening
process. And to the best of my extensive knowledge on the subject can't
be replicated cold.
