Hello

I just wounded My lathe takes 8x8 bits and some are a little high but only about 1mm

what can I do? its just the tips on the cutting sections

also can or should I sharpen the tools?

Thanks some things I couldn't find answers to as it is still kind of new to me :D

The cutting edge really needs to be dead center on the work.

You certainly can sharpen the tools. Just be sure the angle is correct. Also, don't overheat the tool by holding it against the grinder too long. It's best to have a container of water near by and dip the end of the tool in water periodically to keep it from getting too hot.

In the long term, you might consider making or buying a tool holder that has an adjustment for raising and lowering the tool bit.

Hi Madkad,

I assume these are tools with replacable tips. If so don't sharpen. If so either mill some off the bottom face so they sit lower or the best idea is buy a different tool post so you can adjust the height for ANY tools you use now or in the future. Don't know where you are but if in UK try ArcEuro. Got one on each of my lathes and would not be without them.
