On weekends I tend to help with the cooking , especially breakfast. And my wife knows I like using a chefs knife for chopping etc. and one of my knives broke a couple of years ago. We have kind of looked for a quality replacement without paying a lot.
Last week while at Aldi's she found me a knife. a bit small for my taste 5" blade. but very nice. It is a Solingen damast (Damascus) blade with a welded on hollow stainless steel handle. Made in germany . this week she went back to get one for a friend kind of hostess gift and found me another one a 7" so i is a happy cook . I need to get the stew on and put them to work.

The blades are supposed to be 65 layers and a RC of 59.

I am with you. I like to help in the kitchen and just to the "prep chef" thing. Getting the slicingj, dicing, and chopping done. Don't have to think about it much. Just ask which one and how much. ;D I too like a knife with a good "feel" to it and enough weight to work with. Forget those little thin bladed things and paring knifes! I want a real knife. Don't have anything as nice as yours. Maybe some day.

Side note; I do the prep stuff and then hang around and do clean up as we go so there is not a pile left in the sink after dinner. Found out a long time ago that helping in the kitchen meant my wife did not get as tired, was appreciative, and had energy left over for "later" in the evening. :-[

Tin,

Beats the hell out of my sharpened power hacksaw blade complete with duct tape handle. :big: :big:

Best Regards
Bob
