It started off great. Completed a base plate for the Corliss Engine, laid out the yokes for the eccentrics, squared up the plates.

Then I went to remove the collet and cutter, no go. The power drawbar would not release the collet. While milling the cutter pushed up into the collet, this I knew, having had the problem once before. The way I removed a stuck collet before was to increase the air pressure on the power drawbar and had always had success. Not this time. So I placed the drive in low gear, set the VFD slow, while turning reverse, engaged the power drawbar, then flipped to forward direction. Worked like a charm, almost. The collet was out, but when I tried to install another collet, find the threads on the drawbar buggered.

Since I can't climb a ladder, the head needs to be rotated down and then I can access the drawbar, and address the threads. It will burn the rest of the afternoon. Dang!!

Some days you are the bug. Some days you are the windshield.
