I was asked at work to purchase 4 infrared thermometers for the production floor.
They want tools that will work, but don't want to spend a lot of money on them.

In this case I was able to meet the need.

Lowes Home Improvement store had THESE available.

+/- 2% (Testing them, they are more accurate than that, more like +/- 1%)

I'll be buying one for my hobby shop.
I will check the average operating temperatures of the spindle bearings in my machines when they are
operating normally and record those results. I'd do a quick check every now and then after that.
A much higher temperature could indicate a problem before it becomes an expensive break down.

Sometimes cheap works!

Hi Rick:
Just for information, I got the identical item at Harbor Freight. The only difference is that the trim around the front opening is yellow. Everything else is identical including the specifications. They have them on sale for less than $20 most of the time, plus you can use your 30% coupon for the purchase as well.

Is a really nice tool and I also find it very accurate, and love the laser pointer for spot on measurements. I find that for best accuracy about 12 to 36 inches works best.
