My lather is a 9" South Bend and I have a 4" chuck on it now. I want to move up to a 4 jaw and Im on a budget. I would like to be able to work 6" stock. My spindle is threaded for 1 1/2" - 8. Will a 6" chuck with the jaws reversed give me the spread I need or would I need to go with an 8" chuck?
I would also like to keep it to something used rather than new and from a community member. I like to keep it local so to speak.
If anyone has a 8" 4 jaw with a 1.5"-8
back plate for under $150 email me.
