Hi to all

I was looking for some cheap end mills for steel and see that a lot of them, their material is listed as HSS-AL

This mean that the bits are Hss for cutting aluminium? or is some type of coating of some sort?

They will work for steel??

Thanks

Saludos

hello, anko

these end mills are made of an alloy that contains aluminum instead of cobalt. aluminum is cheaper an it is said to make the cutter harder and the cutting edge less likely to breake.
I bought some of these (5, 6 an 10 millimeters diameter) some time ago. I didn´t use them often since I have some carbide end mills of that size, which produce a better surface. But for normal jobs in steel they are a good and cheap alternative. And if you have to remove large quantities of material, I would recommend you a hss-al roughing cutter.
