Here's hoping this is in the right place.
I don't actually make engines, just collect old one and mess with them.
Most come from ebay, but some from markets and such.
Usually run them on air from an old fridge compressor.
I have now decided, and got up the courage, to run some on steam.
I like to build things around them, ie power plants or stuff.
Presently I have redesigned an old engine to fit a paddle steamer. The way things are shaping up, it could be a big boat!
Apart from all that, just like to say hello.

I should probably warn all, that the 'paddle steamer' is unlikely to be the amazing stuff one normally comes across. In fact, it will probably be somewhat post apocalyptic, and fit well into one of those Mad Max movies. To date only the engine and line shaft are completed, well, sort of. I will then construct the rest around that. The result could have a few options, it could be an instant, and short lived, submarine, or it could just catch fire, or it may just be a tourist attraction.
When I figure how to do stuff here, I'll put some pictures up of the engines I have. Sorry, no lathes or milling machines.
I'm in Brisbane. Enoggera to be exact. (Your spell checker doesn't like that :)

Cricket fans will love to know the Spell checker doesn't like Woollongabba either, Wants to change it to villeinage.

May have been a valid synonym 30 years ago, I don't think its that bad these days.

Hi alien0ne
wEc1 to the HMEM forum.
So big boat = a bigger shed, that makes it a workshop, and more projects.
Tools, then even more projects, th_wwp
Best of luck with your Paddler. Thm:

Just like to say, really moved by all the welcomes here, (not quite to tears) :)
Have also learnt an amazing amount of really helpful stuff, ie how to silver solder! I was just doing ordinary solder repairs on the pipes (NOT on the boilers) The engines I get and fix up have all been scratch (I think that's the term) built and oldish. I have a Stuart S9 that appears to need new piston ring/seal, or maybe will go better on steam when everything heats up.
Thanks again for the welcomes.
Bob
