Hello folks, I am writing from Turkey. I am into both metalworking and woodworking (newbie level), but don't get much shop time lately. Glad to be a member of this forum and looking forward to get some new project ideas.

Hello taydin,

Welcome, from Alabama in the Southeast USA!

I believe you are the first Turk I have had the pleasure to speak with. I am very curious about you and your home.

Do you have your own homeshop? What do you do for a living?

I love this forum and others like it. It allows me to meet and appreciate people from all over the world.

And a big welcome from Australia.

Thanks guys for the warm welcome! I do have a fairly nice equipped shop with both metalworking and woodworking machines. There aren't many projects I have finished to date, mainly because my bill paying work (I am an electronics engineer) is taking most of my time. I am a member at HSM and do post there occasionally. Became a member here because after visiting a local hobbyist gathering, I got fascinated about building a steam engine.

I have lived in the US for 6 years, working for a telecom firm in CT. Back then, I didn't have any interest in machining/woodworking.

Here are a few pictures of my hobby shop, while I was being built, and the surrounding area. The shop is prett much like a pigsty at the moment, with almost no floor space left because of junk. Once I get a little organized, I will post more pictures.

There was another member from Turkey (Istanbul) active here some years ago. I had the pleasure of meeting him when I visited Istanbul in 2010. Unfortunately he had an accident of some sort and is no longer in the hobby.

Welcome to HMEM.

That's awful... I hope he will have a chance to get back. It must be devastating to not be able to do what you love...

Machining and woodworking is getting quite popular lately here, with dedicated vendors catering to the needs of hobbyists.

Welcome Taydin, that looks like a reasonable workshop. But it won't be bit enough (of course).

Jim
