Hi, I live in North Cental Ohio, close to Mansfield. I'm a retired steel worker where I was the Lab Tech, sort of Amateur Metallurgist.
I've been metal casting at home since 2007, unless you count fishing sinkers, then it would be a lot longer. I mostly cast Bronze and Aluminum, even a little cast iron. I've had some health issues for a couple years but hope to get back to casting this spring.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. Hi to all the Ohioans. I used to go to a lot of shows in Ohio but have been only going to the Algonquin Mill Festival the last couple years. Looking forward to finding out about more shows.
I mostly do metal casting, small parts in Pewter and Bronze, some Aluminum and have dabbled in Cast Iron. I'm sure there are a couple of my casting buddies on here somewhere.

Welcome Ferromelt.

Somehow this post slipped past me, and I did not see it.

Glad to have you. I feel like I know you, since you are a fellow Algonquin Mill goer.

I started pouring gray iron in 2012 I think.

I am typing this as I wear my Algonquin Mill Festival hat.

Pat J

Edit: How many members here are wearing their official Algonquin Mill Festival hat as we speak?
Raise your hand.

That is a nice sawmill and especially that Uniflow running it.

You are not really an official "Algonquinite" if you don't have a hat.
You need to work on that.
I think they are in the building near the mill.

I missed last year due to workload, but hope to attend in 2024.
I have buddies in Ohio.

I didn't make it last year either. I'm not a hat person, at least not ball caps. I do have a Soule' Tee shirt.
