Hi guys,

I have been floating around on the site for a while and have to say it's a fantastic source of information. I am an IT manager to trade (woefully dull) but in my spare time I enjoy restoring motorcycles, I have a 1971 Triumph Tiger TR6R.. I also volunteer my time on board a 1935 steam tug William C Daldy, she has two 950 IHP triple expansion engines and about a dozen other smaller auxiliary's. If any one is keen to come down for a look, we are berthed behind the maritime museum in Auckland - we are there most Saturdays and I would be delighted to show anyone around. you can see some more info here - http://daldy.com/

I am also keen to meet up with any other site members in the Auckland area, As I said - I am new to model engineering but I do have a super 7 lathe and a handful of tools so always keen for some man cave chat.

Cheers and thanks for a great site
Scott Laurenson.

welcome to the forum from the other side of the world.

Hi Scott,
Welcome to this great Site.
You have a great Maritime Museum. The museum has a great collection of Outboard Motors.Would hours going thru the exhibits.

Thanks guys, its good to see a few fellow Kiwi's here :) I am looking forward to building a small simple wobbler engine as my first, the workshop is on a semi tight budget until I prove my worth so I bought a vertical slide and a collet chuck for the lathe, I am hoping it's enough to perform small milling tasks to get me by. I will attempt to post some pictures of my workshop soon.

Thanks for the welcome!
Scott.

Hi Scott,
No worry. The wobbler is friendly and forgiving to build. Just take your time.

Looking forward to see your thread.

Hi Scott , The Submarine is a ongoing project and is quite revolutionary, we also make specialist valves for CNG and and components for CNG compressors etc and it all purely export . have had a lot to do with CNG compressors up to 600hp We are out at Clevedon. have made a hot air engine that surprised me by actually working very well but I did spend a lot of time doing a lot of research before designing and making one. now thinking about next project and trying to figure out when to find the time to actually make something.
The thing I like about hot air engines is that they don't need a boiler and can run quite happily on the coffee table and dont make a mess
Regards Ralph
