I took a break from the Tools and Tips forum and it's good to see familiar members sharing expertise as always. You are all specialists and I learn a lot following the unique conversations.

This past year my machine shop was mostly unused as we were busy installing solar panels to run a new Tesla Model S on sunshine. It's not a model engine project but it is the future for our grandchildren and I had to prove to them that it could be done. It was a DIY project to keep costs down and after a year the modest panel array generates 23,000 km of free local driving annually and it will continue for at least 30 years. When touring we use Superchargers and hotel chargers which are also free so the panels are supporting local driving mostly.

My old Burke mill and Southbend lathe made parts during the project but it's time to dust them off and get back to ideas from Tools and Tips. Sharpening files looks easy enough.

Take care and thanks for being true specialists and for sharing your knowledge. This is the best forum on the web. (Maybe we are too old to interest trolls and people intent on disrupting conversations.) It is a pleasure to be back.

I think I learn something new every week here. A great collection of talented people.
