Hello All,
As custom dictates I am introducing myself.
I retired 18 months ago on the wrong side of 65 and bought myself a Sieg X3 super mill to complement a very nice Sermac chinese lathe that I have owned for 25 years. I used the lathe mostly to make valve guides for 4cl Alfa Romeo competition engines. As a hobby I have competed in australian classic car rallies including the Targa Tasmania. I live in Adelaide (South Australia)In my early working life I did an apprenticeship in electrical fitting before moving to a university where I constructed UHV vacuum systems and HV capacitor discharge systems used in fusion experiments. In the late seventies I went on to running an electron microscope laboratory . After I got my seigx3 going I finished building a stuart horizontal steam engine that I had started 45 years ago.(http://www.youtube.com/user/KerryG93) At the moment I am about halfway through constructing a hit and miss designed by Jerry Howell. I had a set of gears made which are so bad that I thought that I should try making my own. I have several cutters that I think were used in the late 1940s that I need to identify, but I guess that I should ask that question on the appropriate part of the forum.
Yes, I also have a fridge in my shed!
Cheers,
Kerry
