Each DMU is powered by two cummins diesels: (255 HP each) one mounted under the floor of each carriage.
These units were built in 1953 (first they were blue and red, powered by British AEC engines), and between 1976 and 1980 25 of them were rebuilt into what you see here.
In 1997/98 these units (DE2) were withdrawn from service.
I've travelled quite a bit with these fellows, and beïng "only" 31, this video already awakens a sense of nostalgia in me.
