I'm wondering which of the many plans / designs might be the most successful to build and operate.

It's hard to answer, as far as I know, the flame eater engine is hard to run
Choose a plan and do it
Reducing friction (Reduce friction to the minimum possible ) and airtight are the two most important things with a flame eater or stirling engine
