I have studied steam engines in-depth for about 18 years, and have a lot of information on them, much of which I have posted here.
I tend to study the less complex engine styles, since the later design stages of the steam engine era produced some very complex designs.
I like the steam engine era between about 1840 and 1890, which I consider the "classic" designs.
"Classic" designs is defined as the designs which I like.
Steam engines were the motive power used prior to electricity and electrical motors.
Before steam engines was water power.
Few people realize it these days, but steam engines basically built the modern world as we know it.
