Here is a video of the first run of my Farm Boy engine after sorting out some issues with Hall sensors! It uses the ignition circuit I designed (search for "A new ignition circuit).

This engine took about nine months to complete working on it sporadically.

I could hardly hold the camera still when I heard it run reliably for the first time! It was all I could do to suppress whoops and hollers on camera!

The engine is running on denatured alcohol.

The spark plug is a Rimfire VR2L. I designed my own spark plug which is in the process of being made. I'll add a build thread with how I did it and working drawings if it all pans out - I think it will.

I learned some profound things about reliability and performance of hall sensors... I tried several part numbers from a few manufacturers and found a real winner! I'll post more about the hall sensors in a separate post.

I'm as happy as a pig in... well you know...

Here's a link to the video: [ame="http://youtu.be/DoI33CuWYsU"]http://youtu.be/DoI33CuWYsU[/ame]

Cheers!

Beautifully done! Thanks for sharing. Don't suppress those whoops and hollers - you deserve to crow a little.

By coincidence, I've just started collecting information on making spark plugs, so I look forward to hearing more from you on this. If you have any links to share on related information, I would appreciate seeing those as well.
