My projects seem to keep changing, depending on the season and the stage of life I am at. Having 2 grand daughters provides reason for a new spring project. I put up a 2 x 12 plank with a swing on it between 2 trees in my backyard 2 years ago. Now that second grand daughter is big enough to boogie around I have been asked to put up a second swing and a slide. I had an hours "downtime" this morning so done up a quick plan for a 'kid house". This will have a climbing ladder up one end and a slide out the other end.---Brian

Good one Brian,

I'm sure the grandaughters will love it.

Best Regards
Bob

Did you show them the solid model and let them participate in the design by making suggestions? I'm always trying to get kids more interested in designing and building things rather than being couch potatoes.

We have a fascinating event here in the Bay Area in a couple of the towns. Local builders and other businesses each build a "themed" playhouse. These are taken to a shopping mall, and on a specific day they are auctioned off. The proceeds go to charity.

Since there are pros building the playhouses, they are pretty amazing. I've seen everything from what looked like life sized gingerbread houses to Apollo Lunar Landers with working play control panels. Really gets the little ones fired up!

Cheers,

BW

Bob--One just turned 5, the other one isn't 2 yet. A little early to be getting input at this stage. The younger one can't talk yet and the older one would want a castle with a real princess, and a pony, and a dragon and a---well, you get the idea.

Bless you Brian.
Dragons aren't as reasonably priced as they used to be! :D
It sounds like those little girls have a Grandfather who would
buy one if it could be found.

I have set myself a very strict rule of behavior when it comes to
my Grand Daughters that is NEVER altered!

Spoil them rotten!
Simple Eh?

Rick

Oh My God---I'm tired---and sore. I worked all day building the kids palace. I got everything cut to size, and the base, platform, and roof framing all assembled. Tomorrow my son will come over (without the girls) and help me get this thing all erected out in the back yard. I have a slide on order at the hardware store, and its supposed to come next week. I set around all winter long, exercising my eyeballs and my mouse finger at the computer, and doing very little else. Then when the warm weather comes, a real days work almost kills me. If I don't die of a heart attack, I will shed about 25 pounds between now and November, then it will be time to repeat the cycle. ;D ;D

Progress has been made in a big way over the last 3 days. This is not a pre-cut kit, but a "design by Brian". (And yes, the posts are perfectly vertical--must be the forest is out of plumb) I have a slide on order at the hardware store, and it should be here this week. ---and I am putting in a "big girl swing" to go with the baby swing.---Sure hope grandpa gets appreciated for this.

Ya just can't get a good, straight, forest any more.

Nice job Brian, don't be too surprised if an Aussie version springs up in the near future.
