Can any one point me in the direction of these screws

No.8 ANF (American National Fine) semi - countersunk head, allen cap screw

O/D = 0.162"
Core = 0.130"
Pitch = 0.0277
Overall length 8mm, but a little longer would not go amiss as they could always be cut down to size.

Cheers

Stew

Hi Stew, I can not answer for certain but have you tried a good firearms dealer? Microfasteners *might* ??? be worth a phone call. They have a web site.

What you have is a #8-36 X 5/16 inch long flat head socket cap screw. The more technical designation is: .1640-36UNF-3A, 82° Flat Head Socket Cap Screw. The American National thread system was replaced (in 1963) by the Unified National thread system. They come in 1/16" increments from 3/16 to 9/16 inch lengths, 1/8 inch increments from 5/8 to 1-1/2, and 1/4 inch increments to 2 inches long. 8mm is .315 inches. 5/16 = .3125 inches (and the screw length tolerance for this screw will be +0/-.016 inches).

McMaster-Carr has a fairly limited selection. Fastenal (http://www.fastenal.com/web/products.ex) has them in more sizes, but the 5/16 inch length is NOT standard stock (it takes me about a week to get that length from my local Fastenal store). They run about $6.50/100 as of this morning.

He wants semi-csk head, aka raised head not flat. Not that I've seen many of that type of head about
